Band and Orchestra Festival

Band and Orchestra Festival

2023 Band Festival will be March 7, 8, and 9

The entry deadline for the District 9 Band and Orchestra festival is the first part of January every year. Check the calendar for the specific date.
Your check and a copy of the entry form must be mailed or hand delivered by the Winter Meeting! All B&O entry forms are online at msboa.org.

A deadline is set so the festival process from application to performance runs smoothly. You may enter your information early to avoid the worry of missing a deadline. We will let you know on the front page of District 9’s web site when the registration is live on the msboa.org web site. Once again, we are using the Online Registration Form at
MSBOA.org.

Important

Registration and payment due dates are clearly labeled on the calendar.

Our B&O Fees are $190 for Class AA, A, B High School Bands. $180 for High School Class C, D and JH/MS Bands Class A-D

When you enter in the number of PARTS during the registration process, PLEASE remember that this is an amount of music you need for you students to be able to sightread! For example, if you have 10 flute players, I would think 5 parts/copies of music would be enough for the sight-reading process. Our District almost ended up doubling the amount of money we spent on sight-reading music in the past because this was not done correctly!

Friendly Reminders
  • Check your State Yearbook for the current rules and regulation.
  • You must play a march, a piece from the Basic List and a piece of your choice in order to receive a rating.
  • Make sure the required number you are planning to play is listed on this year’s required music list. Please keep in mind that the online list is the “Official” list.
  • Starting with the 2016-2017 School year Band Festival will judged based on the new MSBOA rubric which is available to Directors on the state website.
Your work preference cannot be guaranteed, but we will certainly do our best to honor your preference. Remember, you are required to work one full day if you have a group performing at the festival. Your site preference will also be honored if possible.
